The Kujaku koi is a metallic koi variety bred from a cross between a Hikarimuji (metallic single-color koi) and a Goshiki. It features a bright white platinum base overlaid with a reticulated black net pattern (fukurin) and vivid red-orange (beni) markings. Judges value clean, symmetrical beni patterns, consistent and evenly spaced fukurin, and a bright, unblemished metallic sheen. The head should be free of sumi (black), and the pectoral fins should be clean and white. Popular among collectors for its shimmering contrast and complex patterning, Kujaku koi are considered high-grade when the colors are vibrant, the scale netting is uniform, and the body shape is strong and balanced.
