Winter Review Koi Auction: Quality Worth Waiting For

Winter Review Koi Auction: Quality Worth Waiting For

Winter Review brings together a thoughtfully curated selection of Japanese koi chosen with one goal in mind: long-term quality This auction highlights koi from some of Japan’s most respected breeders, including Sakai Koi Farm, Marudo, Isa, and additional trusted farms known for consistency, structure, and future development.

Rather than chasing trends or flash alone, the Winter Review lineup focuses on koi selected for balanced frames, clean skin quality, and patterns that are built to mature beautifully over time. Expect a strong showing of Sanke and Showa, each chosen for its potential—not just how it photographs today.

Why Winter Review Matters

Winter is a strategic time to buy koi.

Experienced keepers know that some of the best opportunities come when others pause. During Winter Review, you’re not competing against peak-season impulse buying—you’re selecting koi thoughtfully, with the coming year in mind.

This auction is designed for hobbyists who value:

  • Strong body structure and future growth

  • Skin quality that will hold and improve

  • Patterns with room to develop, not ones already at their peak

Our Winter Review lineup chosen for what they will become, not just what they look like right now.

20% Off with Code WINTER

To make this drop even more compelling, all koi in the Winter Review Auction are 20% off their original price with code WINTER.

This is a rare opportunity to secure koi from elite Japanese bloodlines at a meaningful value—especially as potential tariff increases on Japanese imports loom. Opportunities like this don’t come often, and they tend to reward those who plan ahead.

Important Shipping Notice

Please note due to the holiday embargo on live animal shipments with Delta Cargo, koi purchased during the Winter Review Auction will ship after the holidays, once live transport resumes.

The delay is temporary—but the quality, value, and future of these koi are well worth the wait. For many collectors, winter purchases are some of the most rewarding once spring growth begins.

A Special Note on the Goshiki Still in Japan

One koi in the Winter Review Auction—a standout Goshiki—is currently still in Japan. Because this fish has not yet entered the U.S., applicable tariffs and import taxes will apply once it ships.

We believe in full transparency, especially with higher-quality koi and international imports. While these additional costs are outside of our control, this Goshiki was selected specifically for its exceptional skin quality, balance, and long-term potential, making it a fish worth serious consideration for collectors who understand its future value.

For the right buyer, this is an opportunity to secure a koi that stands apart—one chosen at the source, with development in mind, even accounting for added import costs.

If you have questions about timelines, logistics, or what to expect with this fish, we’re always happy to help clarify before you bid.

Buy for the Future

Two koi of the same size can have very different prices—and very different futures. The difference lies in structure, skin quality, and balance, not just color or pattern.

Winter Review is for hobbyists who understand that koi keeping isn’t about instant gratification—it’s about watching a fish grow, change, and improve over time. When you buy with the future in mind, you’re not just adding a koi to your pond—you’re investing in what it will become over the years.

If you’re planning ahead for the new season and want koi that will elevate your pond for years to come, Winter Review is where to start.
